Privacy policy

X Bookmarks to Markdown is a browser extension that exports your X (formerly Twitter) bookmarks as Markdown files. It runs entirely on your own machine.

How your bookmarks are handled

Permissions

PermissionPurpose and limits
activeTab Grants access to the tab you are viewing, and only after you click the extension icon. Access ends when you leave the tab.
scripting Injects the reader script into the bookmarks page so it can collect the posts displayed there. It runs on the active tab only, on x.com/i/bookmarks and x.com/i/history.
downloads Saves the generated ZIP file through the browser's download function. Your download history and existing files are never read.

Third parties

The extension bundles the open-source JSZip library to build the ZIP file locally. It integrates with no external service, shows no advertising, and shares nothing with anyone.

Verifying these claims

The complete source code is published under the MIT licence, so you do not have to take our word for it. Read the repository, or watch the network panel in your browser's developer tools during an export and confirm that no request leaves your machine.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices ever change, this page changes with it, and the edit is visible in the repository's history.
